  There are many reasons for pneumatic control valve failures, so it’s essential to implement appropriate troubleshooting methods to effectively extend the service life of the pneumatic valve.

  Reasons for the failure of a pneumatic valve to act despite receiving an input signal

  1. Actuator failure

  2. Bent or broken valve stem

  3. Valve core detachment

  4. Valve spool seized in the bushing or valve seat

  5. Blockage of the constant throttling orifice in the amplifier of the positioner

  Pneumatic Control Valve Troubleshooting Methods

  1. Inspect the actuator; if damaged, replace it immediately.

  2. Replace the valve stem

  3. Reinstall the valve core

  4. Check the coaxiality of the valve shaft and reinstall it.

  5. Use fine copper wire to remove debris from the constant-flow orifice.
